by

Elizabeth Cull

A smile tells something about the person; but what if you can’t smile because you do not have the perfect set of teeth? Will you choose to live in a world where you can’t smile? Of course, not. The technological advancements in the field of dentistry have come a long way, and whatever smile problem you have, there will always be a dentist who can bring your smile back in no time.

However, you cannot just pick the first cosmetic dentist that will come across your way. Choosing cosmetic dentist is a critical decision and you must put in effort and time if you want to have your old smile back. Especially in the world today where general dentists are claiming to be cosmetic dentists, you should be wise in picking someone who will provide you with utmost care.

@First, find cosmetic dentists that you like through friends and relatives who have undergone cosmetic dentistry or ask your family dentist if he can recommend a good dentist to you. Set consultations with them. This way, you will be able to get to know their techniques and their characteristics that you would like your dentist to have.

Second, the cosmetic dentist should have an in-depth training with cosmetic dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry is much more advanced than general dentistry. So the dentist that you chose should have undergone and passed rigorous training that will make them an expert in the field. Likewise,

Supporters of Myanmar’s Suu Kyi mark detained leader’s 62nd birthday

Monday, September 26th, 2016

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

Aung San Suu Kyi, the detained leader of the National League for Democracy in Myanmar marked her 62nd birthday today, still under house arrest, where she has spent most of the past 17 years.

About 250 supporters met at the National League for Democracy (NLD) headquarters in Yangon, not far from Suu Kyi’s home, and held a rally calling for her release. Doves and balloons were released into the air, under the watchful eyes and video cameras of around 50 plainclothes police officers, who were stationed across the street.

The police force was augmented by a dozen truckloads of members of the Union Solidarity and Development Association, the political arm of the State Peace and Development, the junta that rules Myanmar.

“The doves symbolise peace. We also released colourful balloons, which rise like her prestige when they fill the sky,” NLD women’s wing leader Lai Lai was quoted as saying by Agence France Presse.

With the party marking marking Suu Kyi’s birthday as “Myanmar Women’s Day,” Lei Lei read out a statement at the ceremony, calling Suu Kyi “irreplaceable” and praising her “honesty, bravery and perseverance.”

Security was beefed up around Suu Kyi’s lakeside home on University Avenue, which is usually open to traffic during daytime, but is closed on significant anniversaries such as Suu Kyi’s birthday or the May 30 anniversary of her detention.

NLD supporters said police were also watching their homes.

“Plainclothes police circled around my house on their motorcycles last night until dawn,” Su Su Nway, 34, was quoted as saying by Agence France-Presse. She was arrested on May 15 with 60 others during a prayer rally for Suu Kyi in Yangon, and was released for health reasons on June 7. She said around 52 NLD supporters were still in custody.

Suu Kyi is generally barred from receiving visitors, so she spent the day alone. Except for her maid, a personal physician, a dentist and an eye specialist, the only other person to visit with Suu Kyi in the past year was United Nations Undersecretary-General for Political Affairs Ibrahim Gambari, whom she met for one hour last November at a government guest house.

Winner of the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize, Suu Kyi has been under house arrest for 11 of the past 17 years, continuously since 2003. Her National League for Democracy won a landslide election in 1990, but the military, which has ruled Myanmar since 1962, refused to honor the results. The country is also known as Burma, but the military government renamed it Myanmar in 1989.

Calls for Suu Kyi’s release have been issued by the NLD, various world bodies and other countries, but the pleadings have been met by no response from the generals.

“In our view, until their constitution is ratified, she will not be released,” Sann Aung, a Bangkok-based leader of the Burmese government-in-exile was quoted as saying by Reuters.

“They are worried that she will be a threat to the National Convention and the referendum,” he told Reuters, referring to the planned national referendum on a new constitution that is being written by the generals.

The Nation newspaper in Bangkok marked Suu Kyi’s birthday with an editorial, saying that sanctions against the Myanmar regime have been ineffective.

“The junta has earned huge amounts of foreign revenue from oil and gas exports, with prices jacked up many times over. With rich mineral resources, energy hungry countries have been attracted to Burma despite the repressive nature of the junta,” the editorial said, also making note of a recent deal that Russia has made to build nuclear reactor in Myanmar.

The paper also said Myanmar bodes ill for the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations regional grouping.

“As long as Aung San Suu Kyi remains incarcerated, ASEAN’s reputation and the group’s international standing will be tarnished. Asean leaders have repeatedly appealed to the Burmese junta to free her, but to no avail … today, Burma is the black sheep of ASEAN. Without any current provisions for sanctions, Burma will remain as intransigent in the future as it is today.”

Lib Dems launch manifesto

Monday, September 26th, 2016

Thursday, April 14, 2005

An exhausted Charles Kennedy returned to the election campaign to launch a twenty page Liberal Democrat manifesto targeted at disaffected Labour voters, promising a fairer tax system and withdrawal from Iraq.

Entitled The Real Alternative the manifesto pledges to reduce the lowest rate of income tax, but increase the rate on those earning over ÂŁ100,000 to 50%. The party would also scrap the unpopular local council tax in favour of a new local income tax. The manifesto also promises to remove hidden “stealth taxes”.

Under this system the party claims the poorest 15 million (25%) of people in Britain would be better off, and the middle 50% would be paying no extra tax.

The manifesto promised to scrap the controversial university tuition fees, increase services for pensioners and add ÂŁ100 a month to the state pension, and train 21,000 new primary school teachers and 10,000 new police. A Lib Dem government would make eye and dental checks free, and reduce the cost of prescription medicine.

The Liberal Democrats were the only one of the three largest parliamentary parties to have consistently voted against the Iraq war, and the manifesto has promised an exit strategy with a phased withdrawal of Britain’s 8,000 troops still in the country.

“We reject a foreign policy based on ‘my ally right or wrong’,” Kennedy said. “And we say that war should always be a last resort.”

Kennedy, who became a father on Tuesday, admitted he’d had little sleep before the manifesto launch, and stumbled while answering questions on the proposed tax system.

Bachelor Barty Difference In Different Countries

Sunday, September 11th, 2016

By David B C

A bachelor party may involve activities beyond the usual party and social gathering ingredients (often drinking alcohol and gambling), such as going to a strip club or hiring a stripper, and, in some traditions, more hazing-like tests and pranks at the groom’s expense, performed as a rite of passage from bachelorhood (associated with an adolescent lifestyle, often in the common past of most participants, e.g. in their student years) to the “more responsible” marital life.

The task of organizing a bachelor party is often traditionally assigned to a male sibling of the bachelor or to the best man. Otherwise, any male friend will organize it. The planned activities of a bachelor party are traditionally kept secret from the groom.

Germany

In Germany, this event is called Junggesellenabschied. There is also an event that the couple celebrates together prior to the wedding called Polterabend. Polterabend is the term for a German wedding custom in which on the night before the wedding the guests break porcelain to bring luck to the couple’s marriage. The tradition goes back to pre-Christian times, by breaking porcelain evil spirits are supposed to be driven off. In the last couple of years the Anglo-style of bachelor parties has become more and more popular among bachelors.

France

In France and in many French-speaking regions such as Quebec, the bachelor party is called enterrement de vie de garon (for the groom-to-be), which literally means “(the) burial of the life as a boy” or “burial/funeral of the life as a bachelor”. For women its enterrement de vie de jeune fille (for the bride-to-be), translated as “burial/funeral of the life as a young girl”. As in English-speaking countries, such parties often feature heavy drinking and various (although gentle) humiliations, and sometimes the presence of a stripper.

United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom, it is now common for the party to last for more than one evening, hence the increasing prevalence of the phrase “stag weekend”. A spin off has been the growth of the stag weekend industry in the UK with various companies taking over the preparation of the event.

In the UK, stag weekend trips are becoming mini-holidays with the groups taking part in various day time activities as well as the expected night out on the town. Popular locations include Bournemouth, Brighton, Cardiff, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Blackpool, Newcastle upon Tyne and London.

With the rise of budget airlines, some stags go abroad, with Krakow, Dublin and Riga topping the list, followed by Prague, Amsterdam, Bratislava and Budapest.

United States and Canada

A stripper working at a bachelor party. In the United States, Las Vegas is both a popular bachelor party destination and location for the wedding itself. Increasingly, “destination bachelor parties” are replacing standard nights out, with Americans traveling to Montreal or Mexico.

Bachelor parties in the US often entail the mass consumption of alcohol, the hiring of a stripper and general rowdiness toward which the bride might not have a positive reaction (especially since the bride is typically not among the invitees). Increasingly, bachelor parties have come to symbolize the last time when the groom is free of the influence of his new wife.

Canadian cities such as Vancouver or Niagara Falls are popular stag party destinations due to their large number of strip clubs with “dance contact” (lap dancing). Montreal in particular is popular for this purpose with both Canadians and Americans alike. The female equivalent of a stag party in Canada is often known as a “stagette”, “doe” or “bachelorette” (in Qubec).
