The cushion covers that are cheap doesn t mean that they are made from low quality fabric and will not endure the test of time. Inexpensive cushion covers can also add to the d cor of your living room. If you are buying the cushion covers that are inexpensive, you need to check out on a couple of things. The foremost being that the cushion covers need to be of the right size for the cushions. While buying cheap cushion covers keep in mind that you pick the covers that are stain proof and are easy to clean. 2008 YODEX Review: Varied competitions, Vast creations

Sunday, January 17th, 2016

Monday, May 26, 2008

The 27th Young Designers’ Exhibition 2008, recognized by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) as the largest show of student creations, recently ended Sunday May 18. It was held at the Taipei World Trade Center. Improvements and expansions were seen with 107 academical and industrial units. Different design competitions participated and showcased their products and also received awards.

It’s no doubt that companies related to design and cultural industries want to discover creative talents from academical units in this exhibition. However, most companies still try to showcase different conceptional and applicative products in order to promote Taiwan’s designs into the world market. A typical example is Fora Series, a photo-voltaic product series by the Tsann Kuen Trans-nation Group.

Before entering into their careers, students participated in this show and showcased varied styles that differ from the usual industrial businesspeople. To get more opportunities and in order to interact with the design and cultural industries, students also participated in vast competitions and tried to get the top places. Some students also tried to design conceptional products in conjunction with industrial designs, especially in some design competitions.

In summary, not only did the 2008 YODEX, have companies which can discover talents and showcase achievements of industrial design in the exhibition, but students can make their stages to showcase excellences from their creations in several competitions related to YODEX.

Gunman commits suicide at University of Texas

Saturday, January 16th, 2016

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

A man wearing a ski mask and carrying an assault rifle apparently killed himself in the library of the University of Texas in Austin, Texas earlier today.

The university was placed under lockdown and all classes were canceled as a result of the incident. Nobody else was hurt, but police are still looking for a possible second gunman. Art Acevedo, the chief of Austin police, said that officials are also considering the possibility of explosives left by the suspect. Armored vehicles were seen moving around the campus in response to the event, as well as {{w|SWAT team|SWAT teams}, bomb-sniffing dogs, and police helicopters. An ambulance was seen around 9:00 a.m. CDT (1400 UTC) at the University of Texas’ Perry-Castaneda library.

The school’s website included a notice this morning, which read: “The person involved in this morning’s shooting on campus has been confirmed dead on the sixth floor of the Perry-Castaneda Library from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Law enforcement are searching for a second suspect. If you are off campus, STAY AWAY. If you are on campus, lock doors, do not leave your building.” The gunman was reportedly killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and no shots had been fired by law enforcement officials.

The shooter has not yet been identified, and the reason behind the incident is not yet known. Witnesses described the man as wearing a dark suit and ski mask, and carrying an assault rifle. Randall Wilhite, a professor at the university, said that he heard gunshots while going to class and saw the suspect heading toward the library just after 8:00 a.m. CDT (1300 UTC). The gunman appeared to be firing shots randomly. “When I pulled up in my car, he stood right in front of me and didn’t stop running but turned in my direction, fired three shots into the ground to the left of my car and kept running,” said Wilhite. The gunman had the chance to shoot students, added Wilhite, but he did not appear to be targeting them.

The school, which has around 50,000 students, sent out an alert around that time warning students to stay where they were. Robby Reeb, a senior at the school, said that “a guy sprinted past me screaming, ‘There’s a guy with a gun.’ I looked up and saw a man in a ski mask, wearing a suit, and carrying an assault rifle. And I called 911.”

Police said that the gun used in the shooting was an AK-47, and that they were examining two different crime scenes: where the shots were fired outside, and where the gunman was found dead in the library. Police would not say whether he was attending the university. Chief Acevado said that there were “reports of a second suspect that was wearing a beanie with a long rifle, wearing blue jeans and a black top” that “may or may not be a white male.”

Several hours after the lockdown began, police allowed students to leave the university’s campus, although nobody is still allowed to enter.

The school was also the site of a shooting spree on August 1, 1966, in which university student Charles Whitman fatally shot fourteen to sixteen people and wounded another 32 before being himself killed by law enforcement authorities; reports of the exact death toll are inconsistent. Whitman, a former U.S. Marine, shot students from the observation platform of the school’s tower. That event was the deadliest school shooting in the United States until the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre.

Jonathan Budd, How to Achieve Results in Online MLM with this Internet Guru

by

Scott W Zlateff

Thousands of network marketers – tired of the old-school methods of marketing their MLM, come online searching for a way to leverage the internet to propel their business to inconceivable levels. They search on Google for MLM, Home Based Business, or Network Marketing and they will most definitely find Jonathan Budd, the “Internet Guru”. His face is plastered all over the internet on banner ads proclaiming to help you achieve record levels of success from marketing your mlm online using his magical formula.

Now before you jump on board and get started in his program with visions of moonwalking across the stage at your company’s next convention… I want to shed some light on what it really takes to make money using Jonathan Budd’s strategies.

But first, who is this internet phenomenon? Jonathan Budd is nothing short of a modern-day hero of cyberspace today. He exploded onto the scene in 2007 as a 22 year-old kid living in the basement of his parents house with just a computer, no real skills and in a few months was all over the internet. He now has a following of thousands of people learning his techniques so they can hope to achieve similar results. Unfortunately, only about 1% of the people who enroll in the courses he offers ever achieve what they are striving to accomplish.

Jonathan Budd is a fierce marketer who has brought the principles of Web 2.0, social networking, and direct response marketing to the network marketing arena. In essence, completely replacing the traditional network marketing concepts of pitching friends, family and associates. Instead, streamlining the process with websites, auto responders, online branding and affiliate programs.

Jonathan Budd has a system that a network marketer can plug into and generate leads for their business through different campaigns such as Pay Per Click, with the hopes of making the initial cost back from different affiliate program commissions. These affiliate programs teach network marketers how to promote their businesses online. So it works out to be a win-win situation since marketing online is a skill-set that must be learned.

However the sad truth that most people don’t understand, is what it really takes to be successful. I remember a very brilliant business mentor of mine said “success is sacrifice”. It takes work, effort, energy, discipline and focus to be successful online. You must brand yourself as a leader and be attractive to everyone who wants to learn the essential skills required.

For starters you must have VISION. You have probably heard this before but it’s true. A vision that is bigger than yourself will help you through the tough riggers of operating any business, let alone network marketing. You must have a vision that is felt through every fiber of your being and spews out your pores stating “This is where I’m going and I’m going to get there no matter what.” This vision must be strong enough that you can’t wait to jump out of bed every morning and start.

You have to be able to generate your own leads and become a MASTER at it. If you don’t have anyone on your list, you won’t have anyone that will follow you. Leads are the driving force of this industry, and if you can’t generate your own leads through online campaigns and personal branding, you will flat out not succeed online. If you look at any business, either traditional or in network marketing, lead generation is the number one skill required to succeed. By using the internet it allows you to speed up the amount of lead flow that runs into your business on a daily basis.

You must have a marketing system that brands YOU as a leader and will help you promote your company. I’m not talking about your company replicated site that every network marketing company has. If you direct your prospects to that you might as well kiss them goodbye, because people join YOU not your company. The fact that your company has a killer comp plan and unique products is the cherry on top.

You need to be able to do a basic presentation. It doesn’t have to be fancy or perfect, you just need to be presenting the material. A basic presentation in either video or audio with your face and your voice put YOU in front of people. Who do you think makes more money, the person at the front of a room giving a presentation or the back of the room sitting with a guest?

Finally you need to TAKE ACTION! You can have all the knowledge of an internet guru and know how to do PPC, CPV ads and know how to create a your own blog. But if you don’t take action you wont create results or make any money, which is why you got involved in the first place. Learn and then do, learn and then do, should be your motto for marketing online. There are so many ways to generate leads, bring them into a system that educates them for you on auto-pilot, and close them into your business.

You have to look at your online marketing strategies as a long term solution. Yes you can create massive results in a short period of time if you are completely focussed. You can learn the strategies that work for YOU and be able to generate hundreds of leads every day, which on average can lead to sponsoring 2 to 5 people per day. What would your business look like if you were able to do that?

is a tremendous marketer with great skills, if you want to MASTER the same skills that have allowed him to explode any mlm online and help you sponsor 20-50 people per month, then visit

USPTO partially confirms validity of Amazon “1-click patent”

Tuesday, January 12th, 2016

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

Today, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued an office action, which confirmed the patentability of claims 6 to 10 of the Amazon 1-Click patent, US 5,960,411. The patent examiner, however, rejected claims 1 to 5 and 11 to 15. Amazon now has up to six months to amend the rejected claims to overcome the examiner’s rejection, provide arguments to demonstrate that the examiner is in error and/or provide evidence to demonstrate the patentability of their claims. During this period, the entire patent is still considered valid under US patent law.

The USPTO is reconsidering the patentability of the claims due to a request for reexamination filed by New Zealander Peter Calveley. Mr. Calveley used internet archives to show that defunct company Digi Cash used a similar technique prior to Amazon. Despite costing a substantial sum of cash and requiring donations to prepare and file the request for reexamination, Calveley said he did it as a game and hopes that his success inspires others to play the same game.

“One Click” shopping is an ecommerce technique, which allows a customer to purchase products via the Internet without repeatedly entering personal information such as name and address. At the time it was introduced it eased the frustration of on-line shopping.

Amazon filed the patent application for 1-click shopping in early 1997 and was granted the patent in September 1999. 23 days later Amazon sued rival Barnes & Noble for alleged infringement by its “Express Lane” ordering which was introduced in 1998. In December 1999 Amazon won an interim injunction against Barnes & Noble but the USA Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit lifted this injunction in February 2001. The parties then settled their dispute for undisclosed terms. Amazon has since successfully licensed the technique to other e-sellers such as Apple.

Fujitsu launches cloud website for dog pedometer service

Tuesday, January 12th, 2016

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Japanese multinational company Fujitsu launched a website for a dog pedometer which allows customers to monitor their dog’s health online. The device measures data while attached to the dog’s collar. Customers are also able to add more data to the website manually, then it displays the complete set of data graphically. Fujitsu launched the website today (Tuesday) and plans to start the sales in Japan tomorrow (Wednesday).

The pedometer is called “Wandant”, from Japanese “Wan” equivalent to “woof”, and the “dant” of “pendant”. The latter refers to the pedometer, because it is attached to a dog collar. The users can transfer data to an Android phone using a touch-card to make it available online.

Fujitsu said Wandant would be the first cloud-based dog health-care service.

The data include walking, temperature, and shaking motion statistics. The users can manually enter additional data such as food quantities, weight, custom notes, and photos.

Fujitsu said, “The data are presented graphically on a custom website that makes trends in the dog’s activities easy to understand at a glance. This helps owners get a stronger sense of their dog’s health, while enabling communication with the dog.”

Top 7 Ways To Minimize Your Income Taxes

Monday, January 11th, 2016

By Kristine McKinley

Are you paying too much in income taxes? Are you getting all the credits and deductions you are entitled to? Here are 7 tips to help you minimize taxes and keep more in your pocket:

1. Participate in company retirement plans. Every dollar you contribute will reduce your taxable income and thus your income taxes. Similarly, enroll in your companys flexible spending account. You can set aside money for medical expenses and day care expenses. This money is use it or lose it so make sure you estimate well!

2. Make sure you pay in enough taxes to avoid penalties. Uncle Sam charges interest and penalties if you dont pay in at least 90% of your current year taxes or 100% of last years tax liability.

YouTube Preview Image

3. Buy a house. The mortgage interest and real estate taxes are deductible, and may allow you to itemize other deductions such as property taxes and charitable donations.

4. Keep your house for at least two years. One of the best tax breaks available today is the home sale exclusion, which allows you to exclude up to $250,000 ($500,000 for joint filers) of profit on the sale of your home from your income. However, you must have owned and lived in your home for at least two years to qualify for the exclusion.

5. Time your investment sales. If your income is higher than expected, sell some of your losers to reduce taxable income. If you will be selling a mutual fund, sell before the year-end distributions to avoid taxes on the upcoming dividend or capital gain. Also, you should allocate tax efficient investments to your taxable accounts and non-efficient investments to your retirement accounts, to reduce the tax you pay on interest, dividends and capital gains.

6. If youre retired, plan your retirement plan distributions carefully. If a retirement plan distribution will push you into a higher tax bracket, consider taking money out of taxable investments to keep you in the lower tax bracket. Also, pay attention to the 59- age limit. Withdrawals taken before this age can result in penalties in addition to income taxes.

7. Bunch your expenses. Certain expenses must exceed a minimum before you can deduct them (medical expenses must exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income and miscellaneous expenses such as tax preparation fees must exceed 2% of your AGI). In order to deduct these expenses, you may need to bunch these types of expenses into a single year to get above the minimum. To achieve this, you might prepay medical and miscellaneous expenses on December 31 to get above the minimum amount.

The most important thing is to be aware of the tax deductions and credits that apply to you and to plan for taxable events. And dont be afraid to ask for help. The benefits from consulting an experienced tax professional far outweigh the cost to hire that professional.
